My Journey to Recovery from Diabetes and High Blood Pressure

My name is David, and I come from Mbale, Uganda. For many years, I endured the pain and weight of living with chronic illnesses—diabetes and high blood pressure. It all began when I was in my early 40s. I constantly felt exhausted, experienced frequent headaches, dizziness, and sometimes my vision would blur. Initially, I assumed it was due to stress or getting older, but when I eventually went to the hospital, I was diagnosed with both diabetes and high blood pressure. That moment marked a turning point in my life.

From then on, my days became filled with hospital appointments, daily medications, strict dietary rules, and persistent fear. I was informed that I would need to manage the conditions for life. Doctors told me I’d be on medication permanently. Some days, I could barely walk. I felt drained, disoriented, and deeply hopeless. I stopped going to work regularly, and my small business started falling apart. My family lived in constant worry. I followed every treatment prescribed, yet my sugar levels kept climbing.
