Successful personalities in life have unique attributes. Many are diligent, focused, determined, aggressive, coachable, lucky, willing to listen to advise and have a high degree of humility.

This has been envisaged at the on-going 19th edition of the Johnnie Walker Uganda Professional Golf Open in Entebbe.

Now entering the fourth and final round on Saturday, 7th September 2024, the professional open has been led by Zambian pro Dayne Moore.

The towering player, a member of the Sunshine Tour for the past decade takes a 5-shot lead to the final round with a total of 209 gross in 54 holes.

Moore played 7-under-64 on day one, 2-over during the second round and 1-over on the third round.

After holing out on the par-5 hole 18 during round three on Friday evening, Moore rushed to the range to polish his swing that eluded him on holes 3, 7, 8 and 14 where he scratched for a boggie.

“I do not play the leaderboard. I am focused on my own game. I will not change strategy but only stick to what I do best” Moore revealed to Kawowo Sports after round two.

Such is the hardworking attribute, focus, aggressiveness and determination that the Zambian harbours.

Five golfers are jointly tied in the second place. There are two Ugandans Abraham Ainamani and Ronald Rugumayo, Kenya’s Jastas Madoya, another Zambian Sydney Wemba and a Cameroonian Pristhy Fon.

Moore will play Ainamani and Madoya in the main pressure group, teeing off at 12:20 PM.

Rugumayo, Wemba and Fon are in the second pressure group, driving off at 12:10 PM.

Fon scored the best score on day three with 4-under 67.

The third pressure group will have Zimbabwe’s Robson Chinhoi, a two time winner of the professional open in Uganda (2020 and 2022), Daniel Nduva (Kenya) and Rwanda’s Celestin Nsanzuwera.

Nsanzuwera excited the modest gallery on the third round with articulate driving, chipping and putting as he recorded 17 consecutive par scores and one bogie on hole 18.

On the final day, Adolf Muhumuza, Phillip Kasozi and Mike Kisia will tee off at 11:50 AM.

Ten minutes earlier (11:40 AM), there will be Adel Balala (Kenyan amateur) playing alongside the defending champion Dismas Indiza and Uganda’s David Kamulindwa.

The third round witnessed the unfortunate disqualification of Zimbabwean professional Nyasha Muyambo, penalized for signing a wrong score.

The day also witnessed a rare feat of an ace (hole-in-one) from Uganda’s Tadeo Rodell Gaita on the par-3 hole no.8.

Day four and the climax will happen on Saturday, 7th September 2024 with the official prize giving ceremony taking place at the 19th hole afterwards.

A total cash kitty of Ug.Shs 150,000,000 will be shared by the 36 professionals who made the cut.
