It takes collective responsibility to uplift, groom, educate and empower young girls given the various temptations of life.

From childhood through, the adolescent epoch to becoming adults, the girl child is prone to sexual abuses that could easily make them drop out of school.

It is upon this rich background that many non-governmental and community based organizations come up with viable programs that help equip the girl child with ammunition; not to lose focus.

One such organization is the Incredibles Sports Hub that has over the years fronted sports as a powerful tool to foster awareness and support among girls.

After different programs in the central part of the country, the Incredibles Sports Hub has swiftly spread wings to the West Nile region, in Arua city particularly (over 450 KM from the capital, Kampala).

Last week, Incredibles Sports Hub held learning sessions to equip girls of Arua Public Nursery & Primary School and Ediofe Girls Secondary school.

This was intended to give these young girls the basic knowledge and skills to address Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

In the same vein, several discussions centered around Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) by encouraging positive conversations about menstruation.

Also, the day’s menu had a couple of engaging and interactive games, designed to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene.

“We equipped and empowered the girls with knowledge and the right information on making key decisions about their futures and bodies and how to keep themselves healthy, dignified and safe from teenage pregnancies.” Desire Mukisa, the director at Incredibles Sports Hub remarked.

Sanitary wear:

Many young girls have a challenge of access to sanitary padding, a key necessity in maintaining good menstrual hygiene.

Incredibles Sports Hub extended a philanthropic hand with free sanitary pads to the young girls and important illustrations how to use them efficiently.

“We also distributed sanitary pads among the girls and emphasized the use of high-quality sanitary products and their safe disposal in an environmentally friendly manner.” Mukisa added.

Being a sports hub, the message of engaging and participating in different sports at their disposal was echoed and re-echoed aloud.

The girls were engaged to play netball, football, netball, running (athletics) and indoor sports disciplines, on top of their core value of their stay in school to get decent education.
