Green Park stadium, Mbarara was the place to be on Saturday June 8 as the winners of the inaugural Green Park Premier League were awarded at a splendid dinner.

The 2023/24 season which attracted 26 teams was won by team No Pain No Gain who garnered 64 points after 21 wins and a draw and just three points.

All the 26 teams received medals from the organizing committee and there were also individual awards to excellent performers including Hilary Akampulira of Gist Band FC that clinched the golden boot with 26 goals.

“It was a successful first season and we expect even better next season,” Sam Tumukunde, CEO of Green Park stadium told Kawowo Sports.

Meanwhile, before the awarding ceremony started, a select team of leaders from the Green Park Premier League played against a Kampala Media Team with the visitors winning the exciting game 6-5.

About Green Park Stadium

The facility is located in Mbarara, Ntare just opposite the famous Ntare School.

It was established last year and officially opened in April 2023 and thus made one year in 2024.

The playing surface has an excellent turf, spacious parking space for clients, clean dressing rooms that has washrooms and bathrooms, a prayer room for the Muslim community, saloon, restaurant and bar, washing bay as well.

The facility manager Yusuf Nsiime alias Kakande revealed that it is always open for clients daily until midnight.

“For the full pitch, it is always 200,000 Ugx per hour but we offer discounts to our permanent clients who play here,” said Nsiime. “But we also have special days like on Sunday where everyone joins in from 8am to midday paying just 10,000 Ugx,” he added.

Nsiime says that they have hosted teams from different parts of Uganda and also from Rwanda who at times play.

“For us, the most important think is keeping standards,” he said in reference to competitors in the area.

Meanwhile, the security at the premise is very paramount with guards and CCTV cameras installed giving a 360 view of the facility and its surroundings.
