FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers

  • Uganda Cranes 0-0 Botswana Zebras (Half-Time)

Uganda Cranes have marked a return to the historic Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in the contest against Botswana Zebras during the FIFA World Cup 2026.

At half time, the contest is tied goal-less in the flood-lit game before a reasonable number of fans.

The home side has created the better scoring opportunities in the opening 45 minutes, though none has been converted thus far.

Roving right back Elvis Bwomono has had several goal scoring moments foiled by the goalkeeper Phoko Goitseone.

The St Mirren right back in the Scottish premier league had two chances saved in the 11th and 22nd minutes.

Forward Fahad Azizi Bayo headed inches wide off Allan Okello’s inviting cross from the right flank on the half-hour mark.

Five minutes later, midfielder Ronald Ssekiganda had a shot from 30 yards saved by goalkeeper Phoko.

Uganda’s captain and goalkeeper Isima Watenga has been on holiday for much of the first half.

Gilbert Baruti and Kabelo Seakanyeng have been impressive for the visitors so far.

There is one caution thus far for Uganda’s defender Halidi Lwaliwa.

The second half looks promising and either side are expected to ring a couple of changes as they chase for goals.
