The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has for the 14th year running sponsored the annual juniors woodball championship.

The package for this year’s edition is Ug.Shs 25,000,000 as confirmed by the CEO Derrick Nkajja at their head offices in Kamwokya, Kampala.

“ICPAU is proud to associate with the Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF). We are aware that sports nurtures individuals. The juniors have to know how to use their head, heart and the hands” Nkajja revealed.

The championship will be played in Lwengo district at the St Mary’s Kitooro primary school with the co-host as Philip Foundation secondary school.

Uganda Woodball Federation president Paul Mark Kayongo is confident that the juniors open rhymes with their strategic plan of 10 years, to groom youngsters into the game.

“To have the juniors open is within the frame of our 10 year strategic plan. Considering the open outside Kampala is a fulfilment of striking a regional balance and accomplishing the clauses in the news sports policy of covering 2/3’s of the country” Kayongo noted.

The chairperson LC V of Lwengo Ahmed Ali Kiwanuka is overwhelmed by hosting such a big championship in his area.

Kiwanuka expressed readiness to host the big delegation with good security and accommodation facilities guaranteed.

“We are excited to host you all in Lwengo. We shall accord you the warmest welcome. There is good security in the district and the accommodation facilities well in place. We promise the best championship ever” Kiwanuka vowed.

Billy Ssemusu, the chairperson of the woodball schools’ commission confirmed that at least 600 participants will be expected in the primary and secondary sections.

23 secondary schools and 18 primary schools are duly confirmed to take part in this championship.

The host district (Lwengo) will field a total of 9 schools.

Last year, The Amazima school in Njeru hosted the event from which St Mary’s Kitooro primary school and Bukalabi primary school excelled in the primary section.

Entebbe based Airforce and Mpoma school were outstanding in the secondary schools docket.
