Magic Stormers Stun KCCA Leopards

Magic Stormers reached new heights on Sunday after edging KCCA Leopards 52-49 to book a place in the National Basketball League Playoffs semifinals for the first time in recent memory.

The Stormers, who trailed in the best-of-three series after losing Game One, completed a remarkable comeback by winning two straight games to advance.

Angella Auma led the way with 11 points, while Joy Nekesa Mupaliya dominated the boards, pulling down 12 rebounds in the decisive victory.

For KCCA, Perus Nyamwenge was the lone bright spark with 10 points, the only player to hit double figures.

But despite outrebounding the Stormers 40-35, KCCA’s downfall came from their own mistakes — committing 17 turnovers and struggling from deep with just three makes in 16 attempts.

This is a big result and achievement for John Omondi and his girls after the side finished seventh in regular season.

It’s another disappointing season for KCCA Leopards, despite the quality in their roster and resources, the league title remains elusive since 2014!

The Stormers now set up a semifinal clash against JT Lady Jaguars, while defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins will battle UCU Lady Canons in the other semifinal.
