Eddy Kenzo has addressed his recent appointment as the Senior Presidential Adviser on creatives thanking President Museveni for considering a “ghetto person” like him.

Kenzo expressed his gratitude for the appointment, stating that it challenges the common perception of people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Most people underlook those who have grown up in the ghetto. However, it’s a great pleasure that the President sees it the other way around.

When asked about his future as the President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), Kenzo was quick to clarify his position.

Despite the added responsibility of his new role, he confirmed that he would continue to lead the UNMF.

The two jobs don’t contradict and aim for the same thing.

Kenzo also used the opportunity to reflect on the state of Uganda’s entertainment industry. Before pointing fingers at the government for a lack of support, he urged industry stakeholders to engage in self-reflection.

He recalled how, in the past, prominent musicians would visit the President, not to advocate for the industry, but to pursue personal gain. This, he believes, has hindered the sector’s progress.

However, Kenzo’s experience was different. During his meeting with President Museveni, the conversation centered on the potential of the youth and their role in nation-building.
