KCCA FC vs URA FC

The 2024/25 Uganda Premier League season will get underway this Friday with a mouth watering clash between KCCA FC and URA FC at MTN-Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

The two sides will be seeking for a good start to the new season, by getting maximum points in the first game of the campaign.

KCCA FC had a dismissal beginning to last season and could only get their first win on matchday seven. This is a thing they will want to avoid in the new season.

Coach Abdallah Mubiru wants his charges to begin on an impressive note in order to garner momentum.

“We want to start the league on a positive note as this gives you momentum. We have prepared well and hopefully the players can execute the things we have been working on during pre season.” Said Mubiru.

His counterpart Alex Isabirye is equally gunning for the best start and aims at collecting maximum points.

“We lost 1-0 to KCCA FC in the Uganda Cup, 3-2 in the League and they finished above us last season but my team is ready for the new season and we want to start on a high.”

“We are building a team that will compete. Personally, I am a natural born winner and I want to win trophies here and our target this season is to achieve something at the end.” He added.

KCCA FC will be without forward Arafat Usama Kizza who carries an injury from pre-season but new signings Derrick Nsibambi and Steven Munguchi are in contention to face their former pay masters.

On the other hand, URA FC is injury free but still have concerns about new signings Isma Mugulusi, Derrick Ochan, Bright Vuni and Abraham Tusubira whose licenses are yet to be issued.

Matchday One action will continue on Saturday with two games. Lugazi FC will host Kitara in Najjembe while Express FC will take on new comers Mbale Heroes FC at Nakivubo Stadium.

On Sunday, Wakiso Giants will host Soltilo Bright Stars FC, Maroons will face UPDF FC while Vipers SC visit NEC FC in Lugogo.

Action for matchday one will climax on Monday with Police FC hosting BUL FC while defending Champions SC Villa will take on Mbarara City FC in Wankulukuku.
