Select team receive Bayo boost ahead of Vipers crunch tie

Sunday August 11, 2024, MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo

  • Vipers SC vs Select Team 5pm (semi-final)
  • Maroons vs KCCA 8pm (placement)

The Uganda Cranes Select team has been boosted by the availability of striker Fahad Bayo ahead of the crunch semi-final clash against Vipers SC.

Bayo, a free agent at the moment after reports he has left his current club trained with Sam Ssimbwa coached side on Saturday making him an option for the forward line that has Police’s Isaac Ogwang and URA’s Ivan Ahimbisibwe.

His presence is timely against a resilient Vipers side that conceded just once over two legs against NEC in the previous round.

Besides Bayo, the Select team who eliminated league champions SC Villa 3-1 on aggregate will hope Ismail Mugulusi, Hassan Ssenyonjo and Innocent Kisolo show up in good form.

For Vipers coached by Serbian Nikola Kavazovic, Hilary Mukundane and Rogers Torach must keenly watch the attacks from Ssimbwa’s side while up front, Milton Karisa, Allan Okello and Kenneth Kimera must be clinical.

Elsewhere, KCCA and Maroons will look to bagging their first win of the tournament when they face off in the late kick off.

Abdallah Mubiru could name a much changed team on the day to offer minutes to most of the players that are yet to feature so far.
