City Oilers extended their lead in the playoff semifinal series after a 62-55 victory against UCU Canons in the National Basketball League on Sunday evening at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The reigning champions lightened their path to the finals since a victory in game three will send them to the championship round and compete for title number ten.

UCU Canons drew first blood, but at the end of the first period, they were trailing City Oilers by four points (15-11).

Going into the long break, City Oilers extended their lead to 11 points (35-24) in a period that witnessed two technical calls.

Coming from the locker rooms, the Canons improved their defence, limiting City Oilers to only 10 points as they trailed by nine points (36-45).

Despite the Canons’ fight in the final quarter, Oilers hang on to secure a seven-point victory in front of a loud crowd.

Titus Lual led City Oilers’ charge with a double-double, scoring 15 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.

Ben Komakech (16 points) and Ivan Muhwezi (12 points) also contributed to City Oilers’ total in double digits.

Ibanda Lwabaga (14 points), Peter Sifuma (14 points), and Joel Kayiira (12 points) in double digits for the Canons.
