SC Villa forward Patrick Jonah Kakande was the biggest winner at the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League Season Awards gala that took place on Saturday at Kampala Sheraton Hotel.
The diminutive winger was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season after his incredible performance guided the Jogoos. to their first League title in 20 years.
He played 26 games, scoring nine goals and assisting on four occassions plus bagging five man of the match accolades.
Kakande beat teammate Ronald Ssekiganda, Muhammad Shaban (KCCA FC), Kitara’s Denis Omedi and defender Ronald Otti (BUL FC) to the accolade.
It should be noted that the criteria for naming the winner in this category had contribution from online voting and a technical panel.
Kakande in total won four awards on the night including MVP of the season, players’ player of the season, young player of the season and also named in the Best XI of the season.

Chrispus Kusiima (Kitara FC) – Goalkeeper of the season
Ronald Otti (BUL FC) – Defender of the season
Ronald Ssekiganda (SC Villa) – Midfielder of the season
Tom Ikara (BUL FC) – Most Clean sheets (12)
Abraham Tusubira (Maroons FC) – Most Assists (10)
Muhammad Shaban (KCCA FC) – Top scorer (17Goals)
Yunus Sentamu (Vipers SC) – Goal of the season (Against Wakiso Giants FC)
Dusan Stonjanovic – Coach of the season
Vipers SC – Fair Play Team of the Season (33 Yellow Cards and 1 Red Card)
Henry Balamaze Lwanga (RIP- Platinum Award
