Jowy Landa reveals physical and emotional abuse during COVID-19 lockdown

Singer Joan Namugerwa, alias Jowy Landa, recently opened up about some of the challenges she has faced in her music career.

She disclosed facing the toughest challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown when she was signed to De Texas Entertainment.

The Twafuna Sente singer revealed that her then-manager, Mr. Francis Kamoga, used to physically assault her over petty issues and always blocked her from communicating with her friends and media personalities.

She stressed that he only permitted her to have two numbers in her phone book, which included his and her mother’s number adding that whenever he realised that she spoke to someone else, he would get upset.

Jowy Landa would have dragged him to legal authorities, but she states that she lacked a proper plan to move ahead in her career and had to persevere through the toxicity to which she was being subjected.

I have had a lot of challenges. A manager used to slap me like a baby. He would assault me over different petty issues, and some usually want to date us, and when you refuse, it becomes a struggle. By then, I had no power because I had to get him jailed. That was during the COVID-19 period, and I had no next move.

He didn’t want me to talk to people like media personalities. He would get upset whenever he found out that I was talking to different people like DJs and media personalities. He told me I was only supposed to be with his and my mother’s number, ONLY!

I think he was jealous, and I believe he wanted to marry me, yet I was still young.
