Why Gaetano Kagwa declined a political role, opting for entertainment career

About two decades ago, media personality Gaetano Kagwa had to make a decision on whether to enter politics or remain in entertainment.
At the time, Gaetano had become popular after representing Uganda in the Big Brother Africa.

His return home was met with massive fanfare, drawing the attention of none other than President Museveni.
At one point, the president of Uganda asked me what I was going to do with all this fame and the following I had.
With Uganda in the midst of a national campaign against HIV/AIDS—particularly targeting young people—Gaetano was offered the role of an ambassador in the cause.
They thought I would be able to achieve so much, and they said they would give me all the financial and other support I needed. They were very enticing.
Despite the tempting offer, Gaetano declined, citing his personal values and reluctance to navigate the compromises of political life.
I thought about it, but I declined. I said no because I am a people-pleaser, and I love to have fun, but as a politician, you cannot please all the people all the time, and those you do not please will feel some kind of way. It did not feel right.
Rather than stepping into politics, Gaetano chose to continue his career in entertainment.
