My name is Beatrice, a resident of Madi Okollo, Uganda. I am a mother of three young children, and I have always done my best to keep our home peaceful and full of love. Never in my life did I think that one single night would shatter everything I had built.

That night, my husband came home with a woman he had brought from Jinja. It was already late, and before I could even make sense of what was happening, he forced me and our children out of the house into the cold rain. We were left with nothing—no shelter, no clothing, and nowhere to go as the storm raged on. The pain, humiliation, and helplessness I felt in that moment were beyond words.
