In a bid to race awareness of safe usage of public roads, the Uganda Street Racers’ Association have organized a mega competition (Drag race) tagged Man Vs Machine this coming weekend.

The competition will be held at the Namanve Industrial park on Friday, 15th July 2024 on the subsequent day.

This event is organized by the Uganda Street Racers Association, a newly approved affiliated member of the Federation of Motorsport in Uganda (FMU).

“This will be a Time and Trial (T&T) event with very many drivers and riders ready to give their best. It will be entertainment with caution to have a very safe event” Charles Kakaire, president of the Uganda Street Racers Association confessed by the media.

At least 80 cars and 20 bikes are expected to be in action on the two days.

“The race aimed to give competitive opportunity to street racers as the look to vacate racing along public roads.” Hakim Mutyaba, the event manager.

Johnson Were, the president of United Motorsport Club (UMOSPOC) emphasized safety at all times; prior to, during and after the event.

“We anticipate for a successful event where safety will be key. All cars and bikes must be in a perfect condition. Drivers and riders will be tested for high blood pressure and asthma before the event. No drinking alcohol will be permitted to the drivers and riders. The success of this event will determine the future of this sport. Other partners as Uganda Police and Mulago Hospital are on standby” Were told a media briefing at Kampala Nile Resort Namanve.

Bob Muyanja, the vice president of Uganda Street Racers Association stressed; “We target to reduce accidents from the street racers”.

A standard timing system will be used to determine the best riders and drivers over the two days accurately as they will be involved in speed driving and the exciting car drifting.

Scrutineering is set for this Friday, 14th June 2024 at Moil petrol station Banda to ascertain the readiness of the different cars and bikes.

A bandwagon of sponsors and partners have joined hands to ensure the smooth flow of the events.

FMU, MOIL Energies, Kampala Nile Resort, Coral Coatings Limited, Dana Events, Kagodo Motors, MM Investments, Kush Motors and others are all working in unison.

This event is dubbed “Man Versus Machine” and the entry fee is fixed at Ug. Shs 10,000 for each competition day.
