Steven Mukwala will hope to carry his club form to country when Uganda Cranes take on Botswana and Algeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Cranes host Botswana on Monday June 7 before taking on Algeria three days later at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

Mukwala joined the camp on Tuesday and wants to score goals as he has so far done for Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League where he has netted 14 league goals at the moment.

“For now, focus is on helping my country win and I hope to carry my form at the club to the national team,” Mukwala stated before he revealed the secret behind his good form in Ghana.

“It is all about hard work and trying to be consistent which I have done all my career.”

Although some players crumble under big crowds especially at Namboole, Mukwala feels having a full capacity crowd in the stands will instead be a big motivation.

“For me, big numbers mean big motivation as they will cheer us so we call upon all Ugandans to come and support us.”

Uganda lie 4th in Group G with 3 points, same as Botswana, Guinea and Mozambique with Algeria on top with 6 points after two rounds.
