Uganda Cranes took control of proceedings in Group K with a 2-0 win over Congo at Namboole on Monday.
Aziz Kayondo and Jude Ssemugabi scored in either half to take Uganda’s tally to four points from the available six after two matches in the road to Morocco 2025.
Here is how the Uganda Cranes players rated on the night.
Ismail Watenga 6.0: Rarely troubled but handled crosses very well and got off his area in time to clear pending danger when the visitors threatened with balls over his defence.
Kenneth Ssemakula 5.0: Replaced Bwomono at right back.Fortunate not to concede a penalty after what appeared like a clumsy challenge in the area.
Aziz Kayondo 7.5: Another man of the match performance that came with a goal. Defensively solid, offensively not as good with his deliveries though.
Elio Capradossi 6.0: Not as exciting as on his debut but did the job. Withdrawn later due to fatigue.
Bevis Mugabi 7.0: Made two important blocks in either half and his aerial presence was visibly felt by the visitors.
Khalid Aucho 6.0: Struggled in possession. Made some good recovery tackles, but was slack with the ball at times.
Ronald Ssekiganda 6.0: Still doesn’t look up to the speed after that injury suffered in Kagame Cup but always willing to receive the ball.
Travis Mutyaba 5.0: Exciting on the ball but rarely threatening as he is expected. Shocked he started after that awful outing against Bafana Bafana
Denis Omedi 6.0: Produced one good shot but was on the fringes for most parts of the game.
Rogers Mato 7.0: Electric in the first half, created the goal, missed one and a threat in possession. Into oblivion after the break.
Muhammad Shaban 4.0: Shockingly got a starting nod despite being an injury doubt and never looked comfortable. Withdrawn for Ssemugabi before the break.
Substitutes
Jude Ssemugabi 6.5: Made the game with a poacher’s finish five minutes to the final whistle. Willing worker as well on his debut.
Allan Okello 7.0: Set up Ssemugabi with the outside of his foot and was brilliant all through. Deserved to start.
Halid Lwaliwa 5.0: Replaced Capradossi and kept a clean sheet.
Joel Sserunjogi 5.0: Replaced a tiring Aucho late on.
