The 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers resume today with two crucial semifinal clashes, as Kampala Queens face off against Rayon Sports Women FC, while JKT Queens take on Kenya Police Bullets FC.
In the early kick-off at 12:30 PM at Kasarani Stadium, Kampala Queens will battle for a place in the final against Group B winners Rayon Sports Women FC.
Kampala Queens advanced to the semifinals as the best second-placed team across all groups, while Rayon Sports Women topped Group B to book their slot.
Kampala Queens head coach Asefa Firew Haile Gabreal expressed confidence in his side’s readiness, saying they have studied their opponents and are prepared for the challenge.
“We have watched our opponents play, but they have watched us too. I believe that my team will handle them very carefully,” he said.
Defender Shakirah Nankwanga, who became the first captain to lead the club to the zonal semifinals, said the team is focused and ready.
“The team is in a good shape, and the mood in the camp is high. We will follow the coaches’ instructions to execute and get positive results,” she stated.
A win today would see Kampala Queens become only the second Ugandan team to reach the CECAFA regional final, following She Corporate’s run in 2022.
In the second semifinal later today, 2023 champions JKT Queens will take on hosts Kenya Police Bullets FC.
JKT Queens topped Group C with two wins in two games, without conceding a single goal.
Kenya Police Bullets, on the other hand, finished top of Group A with a perfect record and are aiming for a second consecutive final appearance.
The winners of today’s semifinals will face off in the final on Tuesday, 16 September 2025.
The champion will represent the CECAFA zone at the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League final tournament, scheduled for November this year.
