Azawi’s name change: Swangz Avenue altered stage name to avoid confusion
Sarah Zawedde has revealed that she requested Swangz Avenue, to change Azawi’s initial stage name, “Zawi,” to prevent any confusion.
Zawedde explained that “Zawi” was a name she had used for years, both as part of her identity and for her Zawi Band, making it essential to address the potential name clash.
According to Zawedde, Azawi, who is signed to Swangz Avenue, originally introduced herself as “Zawi” when she was starting her music career.
This led Zawedde and her management team to reach out to Swangz Avenue for a resolution.
My management and hers sat down, and they were very good to us. They changed the name the following day.
They had released her as Zawi, yet that name was already registered under Zawi Band and associated with me as Sarah Zawedde, aka Zawi.
Zawedde mentioned that the move was purely intended to prevent any confusion in the music industry, especially since she was already an established artist.
