Arsenal transfer news and rumours live: Lyon's update on Houssem Aouar, shock Jorginho link (UPDATED 09:16, 25 SEP 2020)

Hello and welcome to Friday’s Arsenal live transfer blog, where we will bring you the latest stories coming out of the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners progressed in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening, beating Leicester City 2-0 to continue their faultless start to the season.

Mikel Arteta’s side are on six points after two games, but face one of the toughest matches of the campaign on Monday evening, as they travel to last season’s champions Liverpool.

Arsenal have already had a relatively busy transfer window, and with Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar being heavily linked with a move to the Emirates, there are plenty more stories to keep on top of.

This is the place you can do exactly that - just make sure you stay tuned throughout the day as we provide you with the latest Arsenal-related transfer stories.

Lacazette to leave?

Arsenal are willing to sell Alexandre Lacazette to Lyon to fund a £54 million deal for Houssem Aouar.

That's according to Independent, who say that Lacazette could be one of the players moved on to enable the Gunners to snap up the 22-year-old midfielder.

Partey and Aouar tipped to sign

Speaking to GentingBet, Kevin Campbell has backed Arsenal to seal a double deal for Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey this summer.

Central midfield is the key area for Arsenal and there’s talk of Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar, from Lyon and I think they’re the two key positions.

Thomas Partey is a defensive type midfielder, but he's got so much to his game, he can go box to box and really, he can do it all.

Aouar is a creative player who can play numerous positions across midfield and even across the front. So, I think those are the two players been heavily linked to the club and are in talks of coming in.

I think Arteta and Edu will get it done, in the end. I'm not sure how quick it will be and it might be right up to the to the deadline date, but I think Arsenal will get it done.

Arsenal could conclude their summer business with deals for Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey.

Torreira future not sorted

Though Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreria appears set to seal a loan move to Atletico Madrid, according to Sky Sports, the deal is far from being concluded according to reports elsewhere.

It is claimed that Italian duo Roma and Fiorentina are still in the running for the Uruguayan international, meaning his future is not yet finalised.

Sheffield United resume Balogun talks

Sheffield United are back in talks over a possible move for Gunners striker Folarin Balogun.

Laurent Koscielny breaks silence over 'disrespectful' Arsenal exit video

Laurent Koscielny has apologised to Arsenal fans over his Bordeaux announcement video.

The Frenchman was slammed for the video which showed him taking off an Arsenal shirt and revealing a Bordeaux jersey underneath.

I know that my announcement video at Bordeaux caused a bit of a stir, I want to apologise to the fans for that, I didn't expect it to affect them in the way that it did."

Aouar has been linked with a move to Arsenal throughout the summer window with the Gunners very keen on acquiring his services.

But they are struggling to gather the funds required to lure Lyon's star midfielder, the Ligue 1 club commanding a fee of more than £50million.

And the club's president, Aulas, has confirmed as much, stating that Arsenal are in a difficult place financially and that they may struggle to pull off the deal.

"Financially, Arsenal are like everyone else (in a tricky spot)," he told Le Progres. "And Houssem could say to himself that the best thing would be to stay with us."

Jorginho linked with move

Arsenal have been linked with a shock move for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.

Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his midfield options this summer, with Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar of Lyon key targets.

Jorginho’s future at Stamford Bridge had come into question this summer with Frank Lampard spending big to shape his side in his own way.

And with finances needed to come in through player sales, the Italian midfielder was one potentially on his way out.
