1st Semifinal: Wanderers v Soroti City

  • Wanderers 63 all out
  • Soroti City 65/2
  • Soroti City won by 8 wickets

2nd Semifinal: Jinja SS v Olila CC

  • Olila CC 90/7
  • Jinja SS 77/9
  • Olila CC won by 13 runs

Soroti City kept its hopes high of a consecutive Women’s T20 League crown with a commanding win against Wanderers in the semifinals.

The favourites in the fixture won the toss and elected to bowl first and made light work of the thin Wanderers’ batting line up.

Wanderers were skittled out for only 63. Only Naomi Kayondo (28) was able to get into double digits for the side. Victoria Pearls Captain Janet Mbabazi led from the front with ball in hand as she finished with bowling figures of 4/9 and also picked up the player of the match award.

It was a routine win for the defending champions as they look to defend their title.

In Jinja, Olila CC had success on the road defeating Jinja SS in a low-scoring thriller.

Olila CC batted first with Malisa Ariokot (25) a lone ranger with wickets falling around her and she helped her side finish on a modest 90. Jinja SS was guilty of gifting the visitors 16 extras which, in the end, made the difference.

Jinja SS failed to time their run chase, running out of resources with 13 runs still needed for victory. The left arm spin of Sarah Akiteng (3/7) caused trouble for the hosts.

The two sister clubs from Soroti will face off in this weekend’s final with Soroti City chasing back-to-back crowns while Olila CC who are previous winners will be chasing a second T20 title since 2017.
