The week has had a cocktail of entertainment gossip, including progress in Wamala Troy’s appeal in the Mowzey Radio murder case, Omega 256 cancelling her concert, and Fik Gaza’s arrest, among others. We look at the top five stories in this piece:

• Court of Appeal Hears Wamala Troy’s Appeal in Mowzey Radio Murder Case

The Court of Appeal commenced the hearing of Wamala Troy’s case. Troy Wamala was arrested as the prime suspect in 2019, following the death of Mowzey Radio at De Bar in Entebbe on January 22, 2018. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison for his involvement in the artist’s death.

• Omega 256 Cancels Concert

In a shocking twist, Western Uganda-based songstress Omega 256 canceled her concert, which was scheduled for 2nd May 2025 at Lugogo Cricket Oval, after a fallout with the show promoter, Nobat Events, over a lack of preparation.

The promoter then appeared in a TikTok video castigating the Uganda National Musicians Federation president Eddy Kenzo for sabotaging his plans and influencing the songstress’s decision to cancel the concert.

• Fik Gaza Arrested And Detained

Singer Fik Gaza has had to spend the weekend behind bars at Kibuye Police Station following an arrest on Thursday on charges of robbery. The singer claimed he is being set up by people who want to sabotage his career.

• Bruno K Wins Case Vs. Black Market Records

Bruno K won a major legal battle against the US-owned music label, Black Market Records, with the High Court ordering the label to pay him Shs 130 million for copyright infringement and withholding his royalties.

• Sheikh Shaban Ramadan Mubajje Calls for TikTok Regulation

Sheikh Shaban Ramadan Mubajje, the Mufti of Uganda, expressed his frustration with the government for not regulating TikTok, which he claims is widely used by idle people to slander others and is “worse than Facebook,” which was banned by the Ugandan government over four years ago.
