Old rivalries to light up 2025 Wakiso zone football finals at Wakisha resource center

2025 USSSA Wakiso Zone Football championships (U-20):

Finals (Tuesday, 15^th April):

• Boys finals: St Mary’s Kitende Vs Buddo S.S
• Girls finals: St Noa Girls Zzana S.S Vs Rines S.S

Venue: Wakiso Resource Center stadium (Kabaka Kyabaggu)

The climax of the 2025 Wakiso Zone football championships will be held on Tuesday, 15^th April at the Wakisha resource center stadium (Kabaka Kyabaggu).

This followed a grueling three days of the group and knock out stages hosted at different playgrounds within Nsangi zone.

Traditional arch-rivals St Mary’s Kitende locks-horns against Buddo Secondary School in the explosive boys’ final, as it happened last season.

Record winners St Mary’s Kitende edged Standard High School Zzana 1-0 in the semi-finals courtesy of Santos Agok’s strike.

Buddo SS out-muscled Green Light Islamic 1-0 at the last four stage on Friday.

All the four semi-finalists automatically booked their berth for the nationals due in Ngora come May 2025.

The best loser from the four unsuccessful quarter finalists will join the already qualified schools.

The epic finale for the girls shall witness St Noa Girls Zzana up against Rines S.S in a repeat of last year’s scenario.

St Noa Girls Zzana defeated Taggy High School 3-0 in the semi-finals.

Brenda Nassaka, Esther Babirye and Patricia Nayiga scored the goals for St Noa Girls Zzana who had thumped Standard High Zzana 6-0 in the quarter finals.

Lethal forward Sylvia Kabena, Esther Babirye (brace), Imelda Kasemire, Sumayiah Nalumu and an own goal inspired the dominant St Noa Girls Zzana team.

Rines SS out-powered Aidan College 1-0 during the other semi-final duel for the girls.

The football climax will be joined by the closing matches in Basketball and Netball.

Wakiso remains one of the most competitive zones for secondary school football in Uganda.
