23rd Corporate League set for mega grand opening at City High School playground

The annual Corporate League is back with the 23^rd edition with the very first outing of the season taking place this Sunday at City High School playgrounds in Kololo, Kampala.

The day is expected to commence with a general team managers’ meeting before action will swing off at 10 am.

Various companies and teams have already confirmed to take part in this competition that has football, netball, tug-of-war, basketball, volleyball, swimming, pool, corporate run, sack run and other disciplines.

Some of the companies and teams set to compete include Nile Breweries Limited, Sheraton Hotel, FINCA, Wagagai, Inspecta Africa, FUFA, Smart Applications, NCBA Bank, Exim Bank, Post Bank, ICEA, Kibo Media, NCA, Pebuu Africa, Petroleum Authority Uganda, National Council of Sports (NCS), Equity Bank, Uganda Olympic Committee, Gondo Limited, UgaFode Bank, UBC, StarTimes, Friends Forever and others.

According to the board chairperson of the Corporate League Dennis Mbidde, it is all systems go as the competition sets off for the 23^rd season with epic action coming up throughout which will culminate into the awards dinner by the close of the year.

Mbidde also stresses the value of this Corporate League, breaking off the hitherto demanding work chain at the respective stations of work, to exercise the bodies and best of all, network with fellow corporates from the different fields of expertise.

“The prestigious Corporate League is back. We shall have monthly meetings with games in the various sports disciplines taking place. This is a unique platform to keep fit, relax from the demanding work schedules and also to network, establish new contacts and maintain the existing relationships” Mbidde remarks.

The teams are set and ready to compete. The latest build up duel between Smart Applications and NCBA bank played at the Henry’s sports center in Kabalagala is one clear manifestation that there have been deliberate efforts of preparations.

Newcomers Gondo Limited also attained a boost with sponsorship from betting firm Betika.

After the first set of games, there will be a press briefing to highlight on the season.

Tentative program:

1. 7:30am – 9:00am team arrival and branding

2. 9.00am to 9:30am Team managers briefing

3. 10am First round of games kick off

4. 12:30pm -1:00pm – press briefing

5. 1:00pm – 2:00pm Lunch break

6. 2:00pm to 4:00pm second set of games

7. 4:30pm – Trophy awards to last season winners

8. 4:45pm – 6pm mix and mingle over a drink (entertainment)

9. Depart at leisure
