Victoria Pearls will be one of the eight teams that will compete at the 10th edition of the Kwibuka tournament.

The annual ladies’ tournament has attracted three newcomers that include Zimbabwe, Malawi and Cameroon. The other five teams include defending champions Rwanda, three-time winners Kenya and Uganda as well as Botswana, and Nigeria.

The Victoria Pearls came close to the fourth title last year but lost to host Rwanda in the final and they have some revenge on their minds. The selected squad is a mix of youth and experience with at least six players selected from the U-19 girls’ team. The U-19 girls are preparing for the U-19 World Cup Qualifiers that will be hosted by Rwanda in August this year.

The U-19 girls selected include Malisa Ariokot, Lorna Anyait, Asumin Akurut, Patricia Timong, Immaculate Nandera and Jimia Muhammad.

Janet Mbabazi will continue to lead the side with Rita Musamali as her Vice Captain and will rely on the experience of Consy Aweko, Kevin Awino, Stephanie Nampiina and Immaculate Nakisuyi to deliver a fourth title.

The technical team of the U-19 girls’ team which includes Head Coach Yusuf Nanga, Assistant Ivan Kakande and Team Manager Lelia Namaganda have been included on the travelling contingent to have a look at the other sides that have also selected sides with the qualifiers in mind.
