Celebrated music producer David Ebangit a.k.a Washington blames the continued production of songs vulgar lyrics on the financial struggles that local music producers are currently facing.
Washington says that due to the absence of proper channels for collecting royalties for their works, producers have been left in poverty and clutching straws to survive.
He claims that many producers are poorly paid for their work which plunges them into the continuous need for money to survive which artists use to exploit them when they approach them with vulgar music ideas.

Washington, however, maintains that as a man of integrity, he would never produce a song with vulgar lyrics because he is aware of the negative effect it would have on society.
Producers go hungry, they are not getting their royalties, are not being paid handsomely by artists after work, have unsettled rent arrears, and fail to raise school fees for their children. If anyone came up with a vulgar song and gave them any amount to help produce it, the producer would do it because he is in survival mode.
But, I would never accept producing a vulgar song because I know the impact it would have on the society. Washington Ebangit
In previous months, artists like D Star of the Hozambe song and Lil Pazo of the Enkudi song have been criticized for promoting “unsensible music” in the industry.
