These were the salutations for Adhola Simbwori Football Club after winning the 2024 Tororo District fifth division league trophy at the He Reigns Malaba playground on Sunday, 16th June 2024.
Adhola Simbwori Football Club completed the league aloft the rest of the clubs with 18 points fetched.
The ending was capped by a goal-less stalemate with Akolodongo in the very last game of the championship that had five teams.
Led by skipper Owen Isabirye, Adhola Simbwori Football Club now got elevated to the fourth division tier.
Isabirye attributed the qualification feat to bravery and dedicated service from every member of the championship winning squad.
“We had a committed team of players, coaches and managers (administrators)” Isabirye who was deputized by Peter Masene noted.
Adhola Simbwori’s sharpshooter Kevin Wekesa finished with a total of 7 goals to clinch the golden boot.
The club head coach Edward Wafula eyes early and strong preparations for the upcoming fourth division league.
“I thank the effort of every player, official and administrator and fans for the success in fifth division. There is no resting time as we have to plan for the fourth division as we target to qualify for the regional league in the coming season” Wafula disclosed.
Wafula handled the technical chores alongside Frank Kulata (assistant coach) with the full blessings of the executive director Abdallah Kabwaago.
According to Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), the fifth division league is the lowest tier in the pyramid of Uganda’s football structures.
Hitherto the district cluster, the fifth division league is a feeder to the fourth division which in turn feeds the third division (regional leagues) and the second division (betPawa big league) with the apex of the pyramid having the first division (StarTimes Uganda Premier League).
