UCU Canons registered a well-deserved 82-52 victory against KCCA Panthers in a decisive game three of the National Basketball League quarterfinal playoffs on Wednesday.
In the game that was played at Lugogo Indoor Arena, the Canons were ruthless on the day, thus securing a well-earned victory.
Nicholas Natuhereza’s charges earned a spot in the semifinal series where they will take on record champions City Oilers.
The Panthers forced a game three decider after beating the Canons 79-62 in the Game Two. This was after a dominant 80
UCU Canons opened a 20-point (27-7) lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to quick transitions.
The Panthers greatly improved in the second quarter, limiting the Canons’ long shot as they trailed by 15 points (37-22) at halftime.
Coming from the locker rooms, the Canons had regained their rhythm, thus recreating the 24-point (59-35) at the end of the third quarter.
Peter Sifuma was so instrumental in the Canons’ victory with a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Jimmy Otim (19 points), Joel Kayiira (12 points), and Kevin Kasobya (11 points) also had a good day in office dropping in double points.
On the other hand, only David Assimwe (13 points ) and Emmanuel Odongkara (10 points) managed double points for the Panthers.
The Canons will return to action on Friday, August 16, as they take on City Oilers in the semifinal best-of-five games series.
