Tyra Cliess: The eyelash extension specialist’s journey of growth and passion for beauty

Not alien to the entertainment industry, Tyra Cliess has hosted nights before but her heart has settled for life as a beautician dealing in eyelash extensions. She spoke to us about her family, inspirations, and plans.
Who is Tyra Cliess?
Tyra Cliess is a city beautician who is passionate about beauty, makeup, music, reading, fitness, and travel. She is also family-oriented and cherishes special moments with loved ones, always striving to make them feel appreciated.

Her personality blends warmth, dedication, and a deep desire for meaningful experiences, making her someone who values both personal growth and emotional connection.
She spoke to Mbu about her journey thus far:
Family Background
I always say I am a cocktail because of my family mix-up, but I like to be identified as a Mukiga. I have Indian, Rwandan, and Arab roots, too. I was raised by both parents, but my dad passed on four years ago. I have two siblings: a beautiful sister and a brother who is so loving.
What do you specialise in?
I am a beautician specialising in eyelash extensions.
When I was younger, I tried the entertainment industry, hosting parties with my aunt. I enjoyed it initially, but it was tiresome. I also didn’t like the reputation it gave because people judge girls in such industries. I left that and ventured into crocheting, braiding hair, and makeup.
My eyelash business is a whole project in progress. I’m set to open a studio and travel to learn more about it and get certified. I like to give the best service to my clients.
My studio, located along Clement Hill Road, opposite Kingdom Kampala, is still under renovation. It should be completed by mid-April.

What drives you every day?
The fear of not making it in life drives me every day. That fear of not being who I want to be wakes me up from sleep every morning to go and work out something.
My mum and siblings as well, because making them proud makes me push myself more. I want to help them go wherever they want to go, and I have to work hard to do that.
Future Plans
I want my business to prosper. I want it to be a family business. At the right time, I’ll train my sister to join me. I have so many other goals to work on, and we shall cross that bridge when we get there.
The END
