The emotional pain of watching Fille Mutoni’s music career collapse – MC Kats opens up

Media personality MC Kats has opened up about one of the most painful experiences in his life—watching Fille Mutoni’s music career fall apart.

In an interview with Kasuku, Kats revealed the emotional toll it took on him, especially considering the deep history and dreams they once shared.

Kats, who not only managed Fille’s career but also shared a brief romantic relationship with her, recalled how they started from nothing.

Do you know what it means to start an artist from scratch when both of you are broke?

I was staying in Kiwatule and had a misunderstanding with the woman I was living with at the time, so I left and rented a Shs 120k room with Fille in Rubaga—and that’s where the music journey began.

He described Fille as a “church girl” when they first met, admitting that he was the one who introduced her to nightlife as they pursued gigs and exposure in bars and clubs.

It was me who inconvenienced her, taking her to bars for performances and exposure.

Kats shared memories of the hustle—moments like being stopped by police during curfew after going to collect payment for one of Fille’s shows.

When you remember how you started, the sacrifices, the hit songs, the global tours—it’s not easy to forget. But everything got messed up, and it hurts.

He attributed much of the downfall to Fille’s struggles with substance abuse.
