Six years ago, I walked out of the graduation hall clutching my degree in Human Resource Management with trembling hands and a hopeful heart. I believed the world was ready for me — that I’d soon step into an office and finally give my mother the life she deserved.

For six long years, I sent out countless CVs, knocked on doors, waited in interview lines, only to be met with “we’ll get back to you.” Months turned into years. Rejection chipped away at my self-worth. With bills piling up and no income, I turned to selling boiled eggs on the streets of Nairobi just to survive.

Every day, dressed in a torn apron and worn-out shoes, I balanced my egg tray and walked from Tom Mboya Street to Railways, dodging insults and police harassment.
