In Buzzi village, Namulanda, residents have expressed increasing tensions heightened by fraudulent land grabbers village dwellers describe as high-class and backed by some local powerful people.

The residents have revealed that unidentified land surveyors have approached their village, claiming to be working under the contract of the new land owners. The residents say they have no proper documents to prove ownership, leading to a scuffle that ensued between the residents and the surveyors.

Although the resident has proved to have land ownership documents belonging to the family of Nakabaale, the surveyor has insisted and continuing to do their work in protest.

Background.

The land under question is situated 100 Miles right in the village of Buzzi, Namulanda, Ssisa Subcounty, in Wakiso district. Crossing the river with permanent residents. Right now, the ownership documents for this land and the land title are in the possession of  Nakalago as a Kibanja holder from the ancestors.

The land has been facing various land conflicts arising from a company called Woodrich, which claimed ownership yet the land title is in the hands of another resident, calling upon the Lands ministry to come to their rescue.

One of the residents, known as Veronca Damulira, said, “I have been a resident of this village since childhood. My father is now 90 years old, but we have been faced with one Kamoga who is grabbing people's land, attacking residents at night, and threatening that the RDC has sent them. We asked Kamoga to bring proof. Nakalago has the original title as a mother title they have a special title.

Another resident names withheld said that they are aware that “Nakalago is the Kibanja owner and her Mom has the title. We have seen it, grabbers say that there is no land title, but the title they have is very recent. Woodrich has been writing leeters to residents threatening to evict them"

The residents have called the high authorities to intervene in their issue that could culminate in a crisis at any time as a time bomb, saying that they are so confused at the moment and on the verge of losing their land to land grabbers.

Another resident said after having a meeting with LC, some men came claiming the land ownership and we refused them access to it because they don’t know the real land owner.

“We call upon capable authorities to intervene to solve the land problem where the LC, 1 Buzza police, Kisubi and RDC Entebbe to come to our rescue,” he said.
