Prominent tweeps and KFM’s Faiza Salima sent to Luzira Prisons on remand following protests

KFM presenter Faiza Salima Fabz was sent to Luzira prisons on remand alongside four other vocal tweeps following the #March2Parliament protests that happened in different areas of Kampala on Tuesday 23rd July 2024.

Faiza Fabz, photojournalist Baron Edgar Hamala, blogger and influencer Bernard Olupot Ewalu, doctor Thomas Kanzira, and Aljab Musinguzi have been sent to Luzira until 30th July 2024.

The five were arrested at Oasis Mall, Nakumatt on Tuesday morning and detained at Jinja Road Police Station before being arraigned before the Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court.

They were accused of gathering together while shouting “Anite Among must resign” chants and “littering placards bearing the same words outside Oasis Mall.”

The accused allegedly caused “annoyance, obstruction or inconvenience to the public in the exercise of common rights.” They have since been charged with being a “common nuisance” and “idle and disorderly.”

On X, netizens continue to call for the release of all people who were arrested during the peaceful demonstrations.
