The 19th Johnnie Walker Uganda Professional Golf Open is just a few days from tee-off at the lake-side Entebbe club with Ug.Shs 150,000,000 at stake for the successful crop who will have made the cut.

As this championship gets close, the respective golfers from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Zimbabwe and elsewhere are perfecting their final rehearsals.

Entebbe Club’s Herman Deco Mutebi is among the professionals already confirmed for the big do that will commence with the Pro-Am on Tuesday, 3rd September 2024.

Unlike the past editions, Mutebi will worry less about the hustles of attaining a standard playing kit, entry fee, caddy allowances, accommodation, travel and feeding expenses during this championship after a modest sponsorship package from The Aviator Africa and NuMax Cinemas worthy Ug.Shs 22,000,000 (about $ 5919).

“I am deeply grateful for the support from The Aviator Africa and NuMax Cinemas” Mutebi, a former footballer in his early days applauded as the sponsorship was made public at the home of NuMax Cinemas in Entebbe, at Victoria Mall.

The boost is a big psychological uplift for Mutebi who turned professional in 2019 after a decade in the amateur ranks.

As the sport of golf necessitates a strong physical state as well as a sober and sound mental fortitude, this is the best shape that Mutebi would wish to approach the prestigious open.

He boldly confessed; “This partnership will allow me to focus on my game and perform to the best of my abilities at the Uganda Professionals Open.” He echoed with a trade-mark smile.

Strict training regime:

As a true professional, Mutebi has been on the fairways for normal business as usual; to drive, chip and putt repeatedly on the Entebbe course where he clinched the Entebbe open trophy back in 2016.

“I have been hitting balls on a daily and turning in some impressive scores. I am determined to make my sponsors, home course gallery, and my country proud.” He added.

We are thrilled to be part of Deco’s journey as he takes on new challenges in his golfing career. At The Aviator Africa, we believe in supporting local talent and helping athletes reach their full potential. Deco’s dedication and passion for the sport align perfectly with our values. At NuMax, we love movies, and we’re equally passionate about supporting local talent. Partnering with Deco is a fantastic opportunity to extend our commitment to the community beyond the cinematic experience. We are excited to see Deco excel at the Uganda Professionals Open and proud to play a role in his journey.

This sponsorship marks a significant milestone in Deco’s career. We are thankful to The Aviator Africa and NuMax Cinemas for their confidence in Deco’s potential. This partnership will not only provide financial backing but also inspire Deco to achieve greatness on the golf course. May the actions of these two sponsors go a long way in awakening the sleeping giants in other corporate and government institutions to support local talent in golf and other disciplines so that they go on to play to their potential without wary and fear of the unknown.

As the professionals swing off, Mutebi anticipates to perfect his best antics in driving, fairway accuracy to land on the greens and putt to glory hole-after-hole.

Mutebi has made 16 professional cuts out of 25 events.

The 19th Johnnie Walker Uganda Professionals Open will start on 4th to 7th September 2024, at the Entebbe Golf Club.
