Uganda’s sprinter Tarsis Orogot won heat 2 in the men’s 200m at the on-going Paris 2024 Olympics on Monday evening.

The US based athlete won heat 2 with a time of 20:32 ahead of Bahamas’ McCoy (20:35) to make it to the semi-finals.

Brazilian Correa came third with 20:41 and Jamaican Hudson was fourth with 20.53.

In heat 4, US’ Bednarek posted 19.96 to win the heat whilst Liberian Joseph Fahnbulleh posted 20.20 to win heat 1.

Botswana sprinter Letsile Tebogo won heat 3 with 20.10.

Heat 5 was won by US sprinter Erriyon Knighton with a time of 19.99 ahead of Zimbabwe’s Tapiwanashe Makarawu (20.07).

Uganda has not had a male sprinter at the Olympics since bronze medalist Davis Kamoga at Atlanta 1996.

The semi-finals will come this Wednesday, 7th August 2024.
