Former Uganda Cranes captain Andrew “Andy” Mwesigwa has officially announced a mega fundraising drive intended to raise funds for his school AMSECO High School.

The funds raised will be used to give a final touch to the school, set up a football complex and procure a bus to ease transportation means.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, 10th July 2024 at his school premises, Mwesigwa called upon the different stakeholders to join the noble cause.

“I appeal to all Ugandans, sports personalities, well-wishers and companies to come and we join hands together as we raise funds to help in refurbishing the school, constructing a football complex and buying a school bus. This school was started in 2018 and a few years later, we had a COVID-19 pandemic that held us back” Mwesigwa who skippered the Uganda national football team for 13 years revealed.

The fundraising day is set for Sunday, 11th August 2024 at the school premises, located within Bugwanya village off Kikubampanga Stage, Wakiso district along Hoima Road,

On the fundraising day, there will be a football match between musicians and ex-internationals.

The musician’s team will be led by global star Eddie Kenzo, a sweet left footed player.

The chief guest is expected to be president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, alongside other notable figures from the government and private sectors.

Steering committee:

The chairperson of the organizing committee is Abbey Mukiibi and will be deputized by Mujib Kasule.

Hussein Kato is in charge of finances, Hardware World’s Simon Ssekankya as chief advisor whilst KCCA Football Club chief executive officer Anisha Muhoozi is an executive committee Member.

Coordinators:

Vicent Ssekamatte is a coordinator alongside Ruben Luyombo (for ex-internationals). Celebrated CBS and NTV sports journalist David Lumansi and another NTV journalist Samuel Mpooza are in charge of publicity.

For starters, AMESCO High School is registered with the ministry of education and sports; focused towards nurturing holistic personalities.

The school accommodates both O and A levels of education.
