UCU Lady Canons secured a spot in the final after beating KIU Rangers 58-43 in the National Basketball League semifinal on Thursday at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The victory meant that the Lady Canons were capable of registering a 3-1 lead in the best-of-five semifinal series.
UCU Canons started on a front foot, creating a three-point (17-14) lead at the end of the opening period.
KIU Rangers were limited to only five points in the second period as they trailed by nine points (28-19) going into the long break.
Coming from the locker rooms, Lady Canons kept their momentum extending their lead to 15 points (42-27) at the end of the third quarter.
The final quarter was even as the two sides levelled (16-16), thus allowing the Lady Canons to walk away with a well-deserved victory.
Tracy Namugosa led the Lady Canons’ charge on the offence with 11 points as the only player in the team to reach double digits.
On the other hand, Fildauce Namulema led the Rangers’ scoring board with 12 points and the game’s highest.
The Lady Canons will take on the series’ winner between JKL Lady Dolphins and JT Lady Jaguars.
