Order restored as Black Pirates win Mbale 7s

Following the shockingly dismal performance in Entebbe, perennial 7s contenders Hippos, Kobs, Heathens, and Pirates redeemed themselves in Mbale.

All the four qualified for the Cup Semifinals to restore order in the Nile Special 7s Series having missed out last weekend.

Two of last weekend’s semifinalists Rhinos and Buffaloes were knocked out in the Cup Quarterfinals while the other two Walukuba and Mongers did not even make it out of the pools.

At the end of the two days, Pirates smiled to the podium as men’s champions after beating Heathens by 12-07 points in the Cup Final.

The Sea Robbers conceded only two tries in six matches during the entire tournament.

Hippos beat KOBs, 24-12, in the bronze medal match.

In general, Mbale 7s was a lukewarm circuit attended by only a handful of local and travelling fans.

The series will continue next weekend with the Kyadondo 7s.
