Museveni Returns from Kenya Visit with Promises of Stronger Regional Cooperation

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni returned to Uganda yesterday afternoon after a two-day working visit to the Republic of Kenya. During the visit, he held important talks with Kenya’s President, William Ruto.
The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen the relationship between Uganda and Kenya. Their meeting focused on improving trade, boosting regional cooperation, and supporting economic integration across the East African Community (EAC).
One of the main topics was how to allow easier movement of goods and services between countries in the region. They also agreed on the need to remove non-tariff barriers—rules that make trade more difficult and slow.
In addition to trade, President Museveni and President Ruto talked about maintaining peace and security across the region. They emphasized the need for countries in East Africa to work together to ensure long-term stability and development.
The two leaders also spoke about deeper cooperation in key areas like transport, energy, and agriculture—sectors that are vital to both countries' economies.
President Museveni’s visit helped strengthen the already strong ties between Uganda and Kenya, showing their shared commitment to building a more united and prosperous East Africa.
When he landed at Entebbe International Airport, the President was warmly welcomed by top officials, including the Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda; Lt. Gen. Charles Okidi, Commander of the Air Force; Deputy Inspector General of Police, James Ochaya; and Deputy Commissioner General of Prisons, Mr. Samuel Akena.
This visit marked another important step in Uganda’s ongoing efforts to build strong partnerships in the region and to support growth through unity and cooperation.
