Rukungiri: The Uganda Law Society [ULS] has pledged to help locate Sam Mugumya, a People’s Front for Freedom [PFF] activist and former aide to opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye, who was reportedly abducted nearly a year ago.

The commitment came during a personal visit to Rukungiri by ULS leadership, following an emotional appeal from Mugumya’s mother, Edinansi KatungwesiM

Speaking to the lawyers, the elderly mother said she has lived in torment since 26 August 2025, when her son was allegedly seized by military men while taking tea in a restaurant in Mbarara and bundled into a drone vehicle.

“His son got lost long time from 26/08/2025 and up to now, she knows nowhere about his son,”_ Katungwesi said, her voice breaking.

“Someone just called her that her son has been abducted by security men… She says his son had no offe.”_

Family members and opposition figures allege the abduction was carried out by security operatives in broad daylight.

ULS leaders told the grieving mother that the Society will work to *establish whether Sam Mugumya is alive or dead* and will push for his production in court if he is found to be in detention.

The case adds to growing concerns from human rights groups and lawyers about alleged enforced disappearances of political activists in Uganda.
