Match day one results:

5X5 Girls:

  • St Noa Girls Zzana (Uganda) 67-41 Butere Girls (Kenya)
  • St Mary’s Kitende 58-43 Orkeeswa (Kenya)
  • Buddo SS (Uganda) 60-71 GS Rwaza (Rwanda)
  • Nabisunsa Girls School (Uganda) 45-55 Buru Buru (Kenya)

3X3 Girls:

  • Seroma Christian High School (Uganda) 14-13 Butere Girls (Kenya)
  • Nabisunsa Girls (Uganda) 19-12 NASO Kol (Kenya)
  • Raila Educational (Kenya) 10-13 Mbiga (Tanzania)

Boys (5×5):

  • Buddo Secondary School 80-69 Dr Aggrey (Kenya)

Match day one of basketball at the on-going 2024 FEASSA Games was held on Monday, 19th August at the newly constructed all weather courts in Amus college school.

There was action in both 5X5 and 3X3 versions of the game under sunny conditions.

It was a tale of mixed fortunes for Ugandan representatives in the games played.

Whereas St Noa Girls Zzana and St Mary’s Boarding school Kitende won their two matches in 5X5, Buddo Secondary School and Nabisunsa Girls faltered in girls’ basketball.

St Noa Girls School Zzana overcame Butere Girls from Kenya 67-41 with St Mary’s Kitende winning 58-43 over Orkeeswa in the other game.

Rwanda’s RS Rwaza edged Buddo Secondary School 71-60 and Nabisunsa Girls School fell 45-55 to Kenya’s Buru Buru.

In boy’s action, Buddo Secondary School humbled Dr Aggrey 80-69 in a thrilling duel.

In 3X3 basketball, two Ugandan schools; Seroma Christian School and Nabisunsa Girls School opened with victories.

Seroma Christian High School pipped Kenya’s Butere Girls 14-13 whilst Nabisunsa Girls defeated another Kenyan school, NASO Kol 19-12.

Tanzania’s Mbiga beat Kenyan school Raila Educational 13-10.

Action in basketball continues on Tuesday, 20th August 2024.

The other games include Rugby (7’s and 15’s), Handball, Hockey, Volleyball, Badminton, football, netball, handball, athletics, swimming, tennis and table tennis.

The games will run until Tuesday, 27th August 2024. Uganda is the overall defending champion.
