The KOSA League, a football event that brings together alumni of Kibuli Secondary School, is set to return for its fourth season, starting 25-August-2024.

Following an exhilarating third season, this season promises even more excitement as the league continues to grow, adding three new teams and introducing a brand-new knockout competition, the KOSA Cup.

Last season saw Showtymers (KOSA 2006) emerge victorious, clinching the league title with an unbeaten record.

Their invincible run saw them secure the championship with a game to spare, making them the third different team to win the title since the league’s inception.

Previous winners include Sasi (KOSA 2010) in 2022 and Legends (KOSA 2004) in 2023.

The 2023/24 season also marked a milestone with the introduction of individual awards, celebrating outstanding performances on the field.

Ahmed Mabirizi was named Player of the Season for his remarkable display of skill, reminiscent of his time leading Kibuli to the 2005 National title.

Martin Otwao, who transferred from last season’s champions Legends to Showtymers, finished as the top scorer. Aminah Nakato from Sasi took home the Female Player of the Season award, while Martin Ssenkooto was recognized as the Goalkeeper of the Season.

This season, the KOSA League expands from 12 to 14 teams, welcoming three new entrants: Bawumuze FC (KOSA 2022), Kasalaba FC (KOSA 2020), and Scavengers FC (KOSA 2018) bringing fresh competition and excitement as they compete for the prestigious title.

In line with this growth, the league will now be held at the Y.E.S Centre in Nsambya, where matches will take place every other week from August to February 2025.

Hajji Hassan Ssekatawa, President of the KOSA League, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season: “The KOSA League is more than just a competition; it’s a celebration of our shared history and the enduring bonds we forged at Kibuli.”

“Every season, we’re not only playing for victory but also for the legacy we’re building together. As we embark on this fourth season, it’s a testament to the strength of our community, a community that thrives on the passion and commitment of everyone involved.”

“The journey ahead is as important as the destination, and I’m proud to witness how far we’ve come,” he added.

Introducing the KOSA Cup: A Knockout Challenge
In an exciting development, the KOSA League is launching the KOSA Cup, a knockout competition that will run alongside the league.

This new tournament will feature all 14 league teams, as well as potential teams from outside the league, creating a thrilling knockout challenge that adds another layer of competition to the season.

The opening day of the season will see the defending champions Showtymers take on new entrants Scavengers FC. Other fixtures include:

  • Soccer Souls FC vs. Solida FC
  • Twaake FC vs. Sasi FC
  • Bawumuze FC vs. 4z Tazz FC
  • Legends FC vs. Nugu FC
  • Determined 05 FC vs. Mossel Bay FC
  • Kasalaba FC vs. Undisputed FC

Shafic Kiyaga, the Head of Competitions, highlighted the league’s commitment to innovation: “We’re constantly looking for ways to enhance the experience for our players and fans and the upcoming season marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of the KOSA League.”

“The introduction of the KOSA Cup brings with it a new level of intensity and excitement, offering every team a chance to prove themselves in a different arena.”

“We’re not just organizing games; we’re crafting an experience; it’s about creating a space where memories are relived and new ones are forged.”

“This season, we are setting the stage for something truly special—a season that will resonate in the hearts of all who witness it.”

The introduction of the KOSA Cup is a testament to our dedication to making the KOSA League not just a football event, but a community celebration.”
