Ismail Watenga through his foundation donated several items including balls and jerseys to his home area people in Nakaloke, Mbale on Sunday.
The South African based goalie, in company several football stakeholders including fellow footballers kicked off the day with a visit to his former school in Namusi where gave out football balls, jerseys for both the boy and girls (netball) teams, pads as well as scholastic material.
He then proceeded to Mbale Main Hospital where he donated Mama Kits and other essentials like sugar, soap and drinks to patients.
“I am privileged to be back home and be able to put a smile on my people through donation of some items,” said Watenga who launched the Foundation early this year.
The occasion was summed up by an entertaining football match between Watenga’s Friends from Kampala and the local area team.
The former Vipers SC goalkeeper also established a football academy in the area to help in producing more players of his caliber.
Uganda is currently Uganda’s number goalkeeper, captained and started all two FIFA World Cup qualifier early this month keeping a clean sheet against Botswana at Namboole.
