HRMAU President Mbubi unveils new plans to promote the human resource profession in Uganda.

We shall begin with creating a paradigm shift in society, uplifting of the future generation, and a 360-degree evaluation of our progress. United, we shall achieve this dream through active participation in all HRMAU activities.

A new era dawns the Human Resource fraternity as the President of Human Resource Managers Association (HRMAU) Moses Mbubi Witta unveiled new action plans during his Presidential address to the membership of the association. 

The President highlighted the need to utilize the collective efforts of the members and the progressive models initiated by the association to increase productivity for economic growth through the human resource practices.

“This year, we shall combine efforts as a fraternity to demonstrate to employers the strong correlation between Human Capital and Economic growth through the expansion of knowledge and skills of people. Over the years, Human Resource ur have been the custodians of increased productivity and this is our moment to capitalize on that through the progressive model that has been developed by HRMAU.” He said.

During his Presidential address that took place online on 29th January 2021, Mbubi applauded the dedicated work of the governing council, the secretariat and members of HRMAU, who he said championed associations steps in the year 2020 which aligned the association to the new year of 2021 and guided the operations of the association.

The new governing council pictured above includes:

Vice President, Phionah Tumusiime Semucho, Director of Finance, Bob Trubish, Secretary General Doreen Asaasira Muhangazi, Director Professional Development, Saidi Alikwan, Director Public Relations and Marketing, Shamim Nabaggala Walusimbi Nsubuga, Director of Pro-grammes, Patricia Aol, and committee members.

During the address, the President outlines various achievement and future plans for the association which he said will see a paradigm shift in the operations of the association.

To facilitate continuous development of the human resource profession in Uganda, the President said that the Human Resource Managers Association of Uganda (HRMAU) has partnered with Chattered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) based in the United Kingdom to conduct trainings in the profession.

The training will witness human resource practitioners attend CIPD courses starting with February 2021 in different level and that they entered an agreement with the CIPD for members in groups to assess and attend CIPD courses including level 3 and level 5 human resources learning.

“The HRMAU has entered an agreement with the CIPD whereby HRMAU members can go through Experience Assessment (EA) in groups and also attend CIPD courses Level 3 Certificate in HR and Level 5 Diploma in HR courtesy of Avado Learning. Enrolment is underway with the courses set to commence in February 2021. We anticipate having 30 members taking part in the first cohort” he said.

The President added that during their first term in office they carried out an audit to ascertain areas of exposure that needed to be addressed to ensure a streamlines structure of the association. He said that after identification of the areas they may with different stakeholders.

“The first step was to carry out an internal audit to identify potential areas of exposure both legally and operationally. We have had a number of engagements with various stakeholders like Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) and these have enabled us to rectify the outstanding registration and compliance gaps that were identified in the audit” he said

The President called for fast tracking of the enactment of the Human Resource Bill since it was initiated in 2016 which he said has been presented to various key office bearers to handle.

“We developed a Communication Message on the HR bill to be shared with the HR fraternity when we have progressed on the Regulatory Impact Assessment that will be a step forward for the HR Bill enactment” he said

In support of the optimization of member engagement the president mentioned that the association purchased a management software system which he said commenced operations in January 2021, conducting webinars in the final quarter of 2020 in Strategic Planning, Performance Management and Change Management. They also worked on streamlining the governance structure, developing a HR manual among other developments.

“In order to effectively deliver the quarterly campaigns planned out for this year, we sourced for and acquired an Association Management Software, called Glue Up. This self-help system will support with member engagement, on boarding and accumulation of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points for participation in HRMAU activities, while enabling online payments among other amenities” he said

The Human Resource Managers’ Association of Uganda, ( HRMAU) is a professional association that leads in people management, enhances com-petence, productivity and quality of life.

The Mission of the association being to institute standards, enhance development and promote Human Resource Management as a strategic function.
