Counter petitions mar 2025 Entebbe Zone football competition prior to knock out round

The grueling group stages of the 2025 Entebbe zone football championship successfully concluded on Wednesday, 26^th March in Kisubi, Katabi Town council.

Since Monday, there has been epic action among the 23 schools on a number of playgrounds at the St Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK), Kisubi Technical School, University of Kisubi (UNIK) and Kisubi Seminary grounds.

As the group stages climaxed, different schools put in petitions before the local organizing committee.

There were counter accusations from the various schools with a number of cases of impersonation, forged academic documents, use repeaters, over aged players, among others.

The local organizing committee could not pass the verdicts on time by close of business on Wednesday with the cases spilling over on the following day ahead of the epic quarter final clashes.

In some of the closing matches on Wednesday, Entebbe Parents Secondary School rallied from a goal down to hold St Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK) 1-all at the SMACK main stadium.

During the same group, Entebbe Secondary School got a walk over Green Stars High School at Kisubi Technical playground to top this pool in group A.

For group B; Nkumba Lake View High School overcame Kisubi Mapeera 1-0 courtesy of Augustine Ganaafa’s second half strike in group B.

The result took Nkumba Lake View SS to 12 points with Kisubi Mapeera in 10.

Kisubi Mapeera however lodged in a petition against Nkumba Lake View accusing them of fielding a number of ineligible players.

The verdict will be passed on Thursday morning ahead of the quarter final match ups.

Record champions Boston High School Mpala also put in a petition that could definitely affect the final standings in Group D.

The quarter final match-ups will be confirmed on the morning of Thursday, 27^th March 2025 before the games shall be played.

The semi-finals will also be played on the same day ahead of Friday’s finale.

Three schools will represent Entebbe zone at the 2025 Wakiso regional level later next month.
