Arsenal step up Trippier pursuit

Arsenal have stepped up their efforts to sign former Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kieran Trippier before the end of the transfer window, according to reports.

The England international is poised to replace Hector Bellerin, who has been pushing for a move away from the Emirates and has become growingly frustrated with the Gunners' inability to let him leave London Colney.

Mikel Arteta's side registered initial interest in Trippier earlier in the summer but were put off by his £34 million release clause but have since reentered the ring to in a bid to land the knockout blow and negotiate a reduced asking price, report The Sun.

The La Liga winner is reportedly keen on a return to the Premier League however the Gunners face competition from Manchester United, who also toyed with the prospect of signing the 30-year-old defender earlier this summer.

Willian nears exit

Corinthians have made Willian a proposal to leave Arsenal on a free transfer despite joining the Gunners last season on a lucrative three-year deal.

The 33-year-old is said to be tempted by the Brazilian side's offer and has wanted to leave the Emirates since May having failed to impressed since arriving on a free from Chelsea.

Arsenal are reportedly happy to allow the former Blues winger leave due to his steep wages.

Willian, who savagely liked a post on the Blues' Instagram page celebrating the recent win over the Gunners, is not entirely convinced by a move to the Brazilian Serie A but is considering Corinthians' offer.

However, he will give priority to European clubs should any enter the race to win his signature.

Torreira travels to complete medical

Lucas Torriera is travelling to Italy to complete a medical ahead of his proposed loan move to Fiorentina which will see Arsenal reap €1.5 million (£1.28m) in loan fees, reports Romano.

The Uruguay international spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid making 19 La Liga appearances as Diego Simeone led the side to their eleventh league title but averaged just 26.4 minutes a game in the process.

A move back to Serie A could be the breakthrough Torreira needed having struggled to sustain regular game time since Arteta arrived in north London.

Conte lined up as Arteta replacement

Antonio Conte has been lined up as a potential replacement for Arteta as the Gunners boss is handed a five game deadline to save his job, according to The Telegraph.

The Spaniard lost each of his opening two Premier League games in which his side failed to score in either as pressure begins to mount.

Arteta is now working against the clock as he looks to turn his fortunes around with just five games to showcase any developments or directionality.
