From the bold testimonials of the numerous participants who graced the second edition of the East African University Sports leadership boot camp at Busitema University, the future is promising.

“I learnt a lot about organizing sports events more efficiently, particularly in marketing and finance management,” Barrack Aseke, an alumus of Daystar University in Kenya confessed.

This three-day leadership boot camp was organized by the Federation of East Africa University Sports body (FEAUS).

At least 120 students from 14 universities of East Africa graced this leadership boot camp that was officially opened by Professor Paul Wako, the Vice Chancellor of Busitema University.

Professor Wako retaliated the relevance of sports in higher education, highlighting its potential for job creation and economic development.

“This boot camp is a great opportunity to nurture leadership in sports and provide insights from celebrated sports personalities,” Prof. Wako remarked.

This leadership boot camp was intended to equip sports students from across East Africa with essential knowledge and leadership skills with the prime target at hand of the development of sports leadership in East Africa.

The rationale of the leadership boot camp was to equip the students with the necessary skills, the camp aims to create a more effective and sustainable sports environment in the region.

There were key note presentations from vastly experienced leaders and moving testimonials from the first outing held in 2023.

Sports in universities remains a bench mark for the general development of the sports sub-sector by ensuring continuity of the respective sports competed in.

Sports stars in athletics, hockey, volleyball, soccer, handball, rugby, swimming, cricket, tennis, table tennis, badminton, chess, badminton, and other sports are further developed at university stage.

Successful personalities could make it professionally in the respective sports disciplines and others might be moulded into sports administrators and leaders.
