Why Joshua Baraka opts for more English than Luganda in his songs
Joshua Baraka, a recording and performing artist, disclosed why most of his songs are not sung in Luganda.
Despite speaking Luganda fluently, Baraka claimed that he finds it challenging to sing in Luganda because even a small change in a word can change the meaning of something that someone wants to express.
He hence chooses to use English, which he feels more comfortable with, while expressing his ideas and feelings.
I speak Luganda fluently, but I find it too difficult to sing. It’s challenging because even a small change can alter the meaning of what someone wants to express. So, I chose to stick to English because that’s what I am comfortable with.
Baraka has yet to release a full Luganda song.
