Honorary Consul of Nepal to Uganda Sudhir expresses solidarity with Nepal Flood victims

Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, the Honorary Consul of Nepal to Uganda, has expressed deep solidarity and mourned the loss of lives following the catastrophic flash floods that struck Nepal.

Severe flash floods and landslides hit multiple regions in Nepal 2026, causing widespread destruction of property and loss of life. 

 Acting in his official capacity as Nepal's consular representative in Uganda, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia  shared messages of condolence and solidarity with the affected families and the people of Nepal. 

“Iam deeply saddened by the devastating floods in Nepal. My heartfelt condolences to the family who have lost loved ones and my thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by thus tragedy/ I commend the government, rescue teams, volunteers, and citizens for the the courage and tireless efforts”

Numerous diplomats and foreign missions, including various regional ambassadors, also opened books of condolence and coordinated rescue and support monitoring operations for stranded and missing nationals. 

The death toll has now reached over 939 and another 4,793 people are unaccounted for and of the missing persons , 853 are foreign nationals.

The glacial collapse that is said to have caused the flash floods happened on the Nepal side of the Himalayan mountains,  Nepalese officials told the media .

Countries and organisations around the world have been sending aid to Nepal, including Britain, with Prime Minister Andy Burham pledging £5 million in aid earlier today.

Rescuers have continued to search Himalayan valleys and hillsides after a flash flood that killed at least 359 people and left nearly 1,000 missing, as Nepal and China warned of a risk of fresh flooding from water pooling in two lakes.
